My tack selection
**BITS**
I use a wide variety of bits.....we have 100+ bits lol. It also depends on how that individual horse is running and working, also the style of running.
For daily riding bits all the horses get rode in snaffles. When we are doing drills they each have their bits for that, they all have their own individual tuning and running bits as well.
**SADDLES**
I am a big Double J fan, Bob Marshall, and Triple Creek Fan. I have a older Double J, I also often use my moms Lynn McKenzie Special by Double J. I also have two Triple Creeks, and a few other different saddles that are trophy and don't get rode. I had 3 Bob Marshall Sports Saddles but when I got my first Triple Creek I fell in love with how they ride so I sold my BMs and bought me another Triple Creek.
**PADS**
I really like 5 stars, they are the top pad on my list. I also really like Impact Gels and EquiPedics. I am not a fan of the Professional choice pads or really any other pad on the markets.
**BOOTS**
I use Pro Equine SMBs and Bell Boots. JJ only can wear the Pro Equine bellboots so I also use the SMBs and find them to be one of the better brands. I don't like the new Professional Choice boots, I use to be a Elite fan until they went to the VenTech system. And I have never been a fan of Classic Equine Boots.
**Misc Tack**
I am not a big fan of Tie-Downs...but my one gelding uses one ONLY when he runs. He gets rode and worked with no Tie-Down. It is an absolute last resort deal when it comes to them and is hard to convince myself to throw one on. Just not a fan.
I think that is all the tack.....

I think, I know you, not sure.
BITS: Snaffles usually. But for barrel racing my 8 year old I use a baucher she seems to like it and it works. It helps keep her collected. For my 11 year old. I use a full cheek or we just go in our bitless bridle.
Saddles: Ran-tan synthetic. Its light and fits my eleven year old. I've had it coming up on 2 years and it still goes! For my 8 year old I use a FQHB synthetic Abetta saddle. I actually thought they were really crappy saddles. But I got one from a friend over the web. And I really like the quality and the softness of the seat.
Boots: Legacy's I want to get SMB's though soon!
Saddle pads: I just use the one that's more fluffy with padding and works the best for my mares.
Tie downs, I don't use them. Now I believe they can be used in a good way. But most barrel racers don't wanna take the time to train there horse to be more level headed and not have there head sky high when racing. So they use the tie down for a quick fix. Tie downs really don't do anything. It teaches the horse to brace against it. I've heard though that some horses actually go better bracing off something going around..... But then I also kinda think, if there having to brace on something there not using something either. I think its kinda a 2 way street here.

They break down WAY to fast, and don't really have that much support. I participated in a demo with a bunch of different pads and they placed your hand between the pad, and a saddle rack with a saddle tree on top. They rotated the tree, and moved it around, shifted the pressure around on different parts...I felt EVERY move and the pressure from the bars was very painful.
They just are not well designed pads....I have heard a lot of people that they had horses who became sore in the shoulders especially.
